Holiday Luncheon

Holiday Luncheon

Our annual holiday luncheon has been scheduled for Thursday, December 17 from 11:30-1.
While purse strings are tight all over, we felt it was important to carry on with our tradition of gathering together for the holidays. We hope that you will plan to join us for the festivities. As usual, Chef Tim and Chef Kristi and their students will prepare our feast.

Due to the budget, we will not be able to distribute turkeys this year. We will have a white elephant raffle and give away door prizes, including Michael’s floral arrangements. Please consider bringing a non-perishable item to donate to the food banks in Denver who are low on supplies.

Thank you,

Katie Collins

With a single click, you can touch-up, crop or rotate pictures. Then, add special effects, upload songs to accompany the slide show and personalize your pictures with titles and captions. The file size makes it easy to send your photo stories in an email. School Closed Veterans' Day

To All EGOS Faculty and Staff

There seems to be some confusion as to when Emily Griffith will be closed for Veterans' Day. Some of you may have a calendar that shows Friday, November 13 as the school being closed for Veterans' Day.

Our school will be closed in observance of Veterans' Day on Wednesday, November 11. Please let your students know that there is no school on Wednesday, November 11. Our school will be in session on Friday, November 13.

Thank you,

Brad Vickers,
Director, Admin Services

Recycle Trash Bin

All EGOS Faculty and Staff

It has been reported that there is non recyclable trash in the recyclable trash bin. Please remember that the trash bin outside of HVAC/Welding is only for recyclable trash. It would be a shame to have them discontinue such a valuable service. Please walk a few more feet down the alley to empty your trash in the proper trash bin.

Thank you for your help in this matter.

In answer to requests from the High School staff regarding concerns about the increase in gang-related tagging here and gang-related behavior throughout the city, the high school administration has arranged to have Patrol Officer Cliff Paine present to our faculty on Tuesday, November 17th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Glenarm Conference Room. Paine is a part of DPD Gang Unit who serves as our DPS liaison. He will be teaching us how to identify gang involvement, as well as, how to address gang behavior to ensure the safety of our students and staff. I invite you to join us for this session. Update on Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Office has been swamped with applicants this year as the demand for financial aid has increased. The staff has been working hard to keep up with the work load, but in addition, Janice Galvin was recently hospitalized due to illness. Janice is recovering well, but has been out of work for the past two weeks and is not yet able to return. Because financial aid is critical to many students, Tisha Corbett and Kindra Chapman, both of whom have previously worked in financial aid during their careers, have volunteered to help out during this crisis situation. Please continue to direct any questions or concerns to the director of financial aid Kimberly McKay. Thank you in advance for your patience as the staff works diligently to process all of the financial aid files.

Fire Inspection

Dear staff,

A couple weeks ago the fire inspector walked through EGOS and provided recommendations for fire safety compliance.

Department Deans/Director and facilities have been given a list of the infractions and will share that information with you.

Some items that you can take care of right away, are the following.

·Please do not plug extension cords and surge protectors into each other (daisy chain) and then into the wall outlet. In some cases, solutions are easy, and we simply needed to unplug a surge protector and go directly into the wall!

·Please remove all items from classroom doors

·If you’d like to post items near a door, please do so at least 18” from the door.

·Walls may have 50% or less student work (or information) attached to them

·**This is new. We are not supposed to have any cloths or plastic table cloths covering anything in the classrooms unless they have a “fire retardant” label sewn on to the fabric.

There may be a few other unique things to take care of, please speak with your dean/director.

Thanks for helping us take care of these items. The fire inspector will be back around November 15.
