Grant News

The Office of Economic Development / Division of Workforce Development announced last week that The West Career Academy Collaborative has been awarded a grant in the amount of $315,982. This collaborative represents a partnership between Colorado Youth for Change, Emily Griffith Opportunity School, Goodwill Industries, West High School, and United Way. Through this grant, 86 out-of-school youth will be enrolled in an academy program at West High School that features academic instruction, mentoring and leadership development, as well as post-secondary career and technical training in Denver’s high-growth occupations (at Emily Griffith).

Opportunity School will directly benefit from this grant through increased enrollment in multiple programs and funding to support a home health aide lab on-site at WHS. Moreover, the superintendent’s office stated publicly that they view this project as a model for the entire district. If you would like more information, please contact Sharron Carosella or Katrina Wert.
