Professional Development Day
October 16, 2009
Professional Development Day will be October 16, 2009. The day's activities will begin at 8 am with a Continental Breakfast served in the Student Lounge. At 8:30 am, the day's activities will be introduced with a short video from the Technology in Education (TIE) Conference that several colleagues had the opportunity to attend last summer. In addition, you will be introduced to the online technology training to be offered by the Denver Public Schools. Between 9-11 am, you will be able to select four out of ten breakout sessions to attend. These sessions will serve as an overview of the new technology that is available to educators. After attending these 'teaser' sessions, you will have the chance to sign up for future technology workshops to be offered through the Instructional Academy. The afternoon will be determined by the deans of each college.
Technology in Education Colorado, INC. (TIE) is a Colorado-based organization founded in 1986 by a group of teachers with a vision to host a conference focusing on the increasing role technology plays in education.
Today, TIE organizes a premier statewide conference helping teachers integrate technology tools and 21st century skills including technology and information literacy standards into all content areas. The four-day, hands-on technology focused conference that models and promotes the use of technology integration in the classroom will be held at the Convention Center next summer. The colleagues who attended last summer urge you to consider attending next year.
