We completed the first week of this semester and student services is still
very busy. I want to take this opportunity to personally thank all members
of the Student Services Team for doing an outstanding job. I know how busy
you have been; yet, you still provided the highest level of customer
service.
During the first week of the semester, the Treasurer's Office assisted large
numbers of students to complete the enrollment process, and Jean Noah, on
her own time, picked up books, locks, and keys to assist students....GREAT
JOB! Financial Aid has remained 'caught up' in spite of Kimberly's need to
be out for medical reasons. Registration and Advising have seen many
students and returned countless calls...classes are getting filled. The
Assessment Center served 7,237 students. The Student Success Center issued
2200 student IDs and opened 800 email accounts for students. The
Instructional Resource Center, Career Development Center, Language Learning
Center, and the Emily Griffith High School staff assisted with IDs.
In addition, the Career Development Center planned for a Job Fair and the
Instructional Resource Center published its first edition of a very
professional newsletter. The TANF Office assisted over 50 participants and
held the first Career Circle of the year. Randy Redd in Tech Support has
done an outstanding job updating the computers around the building. Thank
you, all, for your efficiency and dedication.
I also want to thank Chef Tim, Chef Kristi and their students for providing
the lemonade, cups, and napkins for the registration area these past couple
of weeks. The offering of cookies and lemonade provides a very welcoming
atmosphere for potential students. Dianna Marriott picked up the boxes of
cookies, on her own time. Thank you Dianna. Faye Hartz, our excellent
work-study student, also assisted me in replenishing the cookie trays.
Thank you, Faye.
